“The Double Concerto“

a new blog on I am writing a larger symphonic double concerto for violin, cello and orchestra. And in addition to that, I will blog about the process all the way through to the premiere and recording of the piece with Lucy Azizian Idsøe (violin), Jakob Kullberg (cello) and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Kilden Concert Hall, Norway. As an experiment, I will document every step on the road.

Festival summer 2019

Nicklas Schmidt is featured as festival composer at Rudersdal Sommerkoncerter in Greater Copenhagen Area August 2019. 6 chamber works of his are being performed during the festival, including the Danish premiere of a new solo cello piece “Fluctuation 13”. Rudersdal Chamber Players, The Poseidon String Quartet are among the performers. New Solo Cello piece released by Hermine Horiot

Cellist Hermine Horiot has released the album “Boréales” on the French label 1001 Notes. The CD features works for solo cello by composers of the Nordic and Baltic countries. The newest work on the album “Fluctuation 13” is commissioned by Horiot from Nicklas Schmidt and can be heard alongside compositions by Arvo Pärt, Jean Sibelius, Ingvar Lidholm, Arne Nordheim & Peteris Vasks.

Unga Astrid / Becoming Astrid at Berlinale Special Gala Premiere
