2014 in review

Happy new year to you! 2014 has been a very productive and exciting year, with a large number of works premiered, including both film scores and concerts. Bruun Hyldig Duo premieres new work in Washington D.C.

The well renowned duo is performing at American University on May 18th at 8 p.m. as a part of the EU month of Culture 2013. I have composed the new work “Regine” on texts by Danish Philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. It will receive its world premiere in this concert. New choir album released on iTunes

Released 01 Oct 2012 The new choir album is now available for sale in the iTunes stores worldwide. – Featuring the Copenhagen chamber choir “Hymnia” conducted by Flemming Windekilde in a contemporary collection of choir works by Nicklas Schmidt written between 2001-2012. HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 Nomination

DFMC (Danish Film & Media Composers) has announced Nicklas Schmidt as Denmark’s nominee for the HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 for the score for “the Great Bear”. The prize will be awarded in Reykjavik, Iceland in October in connection with the Reykjavik Film Festival. The Nordic Film Composer Award was initiated in 2008 and is now an annual happening with 5 nominees, one from each of the Nordic countries: Denmark,

Bjarke Mogensen & Prinsens Musikkorps

The young rising accordeon star Bjarke Mogensen has commissioned a new work to be premiered 1st June 2012 where Mogensen features as soloist with the Prinsens Musikkorps Brass Ensemble. The new “Concertino” for accordeon and brass is one of a few of its kind written for this rare constellation of instruments. The ensemble will be lead by conductor Jesper Juul. Choir Music Premiere in May Concerts The International award winning Hymnia Chamber Choir will perform in two concerts entirely dedicated to choral music by Nicklas Schmidt. The concerts will take place at the Enghave Church in Copenhagen May 13th and at Vor Frue Kirke in Aarhus on the 20th of May.
