HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 Nomination

DFMC (Danish Film & Media Composers) has announced Nicklas Schmidt as Denmark’s nominee for the HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 for the score for “the Great Bear”.

The prize will be awarded in Reykjavik, Iceland in October in connection with the Reykjavik Film Festival.

The Nordic Film Composer Award was initiated in 2008 and is now an annual happening with 5 nominees, one from each of the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway & Sweden. It is awarded in cooperation with the Nordic Film Composers’ Network, NFCN

“The Great Bear” is a Danish animation film, directed by Esben Toft Jacobsen and produced by Petter Lindblad for Copenhagen Bombay.
It had it’s international premiere at the 2011 Berlinale, as part of the Generation program. The film has won a number of international awards, including
1st prize at Chicago Int. Children’s Film Festival – Best feature at Carrousel international du film de Rimouski, Canada – and the SIGNIS jury award at Buenos Aires Film Festival, Argentina.

The score, recorded by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra DR – recently earned Schmidt a nomination for the Danish Film Academy Award (Robert).
