Bruun Hyldig Duo premieres new work in Washington D.C.

HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 Nomination

DFMC (Danish Film & Media Composers) has announced Nicklas Schmidt as Denmark’s nominee for the HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2012 for the score for “the Great Bear”. The prize will be awarded in Reykjavik, Iceland in October in connection with the Reykjavik Film Festival. Bjarke Mogensen & Prinsens Musikkorps

The young rising accordeon star Bjarke Mogensen has commissioned a new work to be premiered 1st June 2012 where Mogensen features as soloist with the Prinsens Musikkorps Brass Ensemble. The new “Concertino” for accordeon and brass is one of a few of its kind written for this rare constellation of instruments. The ensemble will be lead by conductor Jesper Juul. With a score recorded by the National Danish Symphony Orchestra, “The Great Bear” opened in Danish cinemas February 2011. The 3D-animated feature film is director Esben Toft Jacobsen’s debut. The Great Bear was in competition in the Generation programme at the Berlin Film Festival. The film has a 40 minute orchestral score recorded in the new DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen.
